High Point AcademySize: 61,438 SF. Scope: Site and Facility Design Location: Aurora, CO Budget: $7.2 million High Point Academy is a newly formed PreK-8 Charter school located in the High Point master-planned community in the northeast region of metro Denver. High Point is dedicated to providing a school environment in which children can thrive physically as well as emotionally. To support this, they have developed a Wellness Policy, which recognizes the essential connections between all aspects of health. The community garden will serve as a teaching tool for the students and the community and will promote health, self-esteem, well-being, physical activity, and proper nutrition. Additional landscape features include a Tot lot for the Pre-K students, and apparatus and play areas for the other school children. The Project design utilizes texture, bold colors and a variety of window openings to activate the elevations and transform the building into a playful and energetic architectural piece. The 62,000 square-foot facility was constructed as an energy efficient facility, using sustainable building practices, which reflects the values of both High Point Academy and the High Point community. |
