Historic PreservationWe approach every historic preservation project with a sense of curiosity and respect. We get acquainted with the building with an investigative process that moves from an overall understanding of the building and its context to a thorough, detailed understanding of the building’s history and construction. As preservation architecture often requires innovative approaches to fire and life safety issues and building code compliance, we work collaboratively with building owners and local building code and fire safety officials to achieve the desired levels of compliance while preserving the architectural integrity of the historic building. We are committed to adherence to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties as well as local preservation standards. The goal of our approach is to treat historic buildings as our “friends,” endearing them to the people who encounter them every day, while making them functional, sustainable, and easy to maintain. |
