D'Evelyn Junior/Senior High School

The design reflects the classical education and liberal arts influence emphasized in the curriculum of the school. A contemporary approach to detailing combines traditional red brick and classical elements such as the grand staircase and entry columns further emphasizing the school's mission.

Centennial High School

Centennial High School is an alternative school campus located in an historic building. The project involved a comprehensive master planning and programming study to assess the current and future educational program. Following the master planning and programming, a renovation and addition provided the facilities for the educational program. The program includes general instructional classrooms, computer classrooms, an activities building house, art studio, science lab, the trade’s workshop, and the gymnasium/cafeteria. It also includes the district’s “Center of Excellence” trades program drawing students from throughout the local school district.

Maxwell Elementary School

This urban school is designed to facilitate the learning process, incorporate current state-of-the-art technologies, provide flexibility for future trends, provide a community gathering place, and symbolize pride within the community. It is a school full of unique design elements with carefully selected colors and materials to enhance function and comfort and it is flooded with natural daylight providing a healthy interior environment. The floor plan integrates an effective and efficient layout incorporating pods with shared common spaces like multipurpose rooms and teacher workrooms.

Excel Academy Charter School

Constructed in only seven months, this new school supports a rigorous academic program and low student/teacher ratios. The design interprets the individualistic and distinct learning style in a building form that reflects and communicates creativity. Because of this, reveals and recesses, laid out in angular and irregular patterns, are incorporated into the building exterior. The design team intentionally got away from the adage that a school goes in a box. This school is full of very dynamic and energetic teachers and administrators and the building plan and massing reflect this.
