Denver, CO (April 29, 2013) - SLATERPAULL Architects announces that it has been named Green Business of the Year by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented to the firm, which specializes in educational environments and historic preservation projects with a focus on sustainable design, at the 2013 Business Award luncheon Friday, April 26.
“This is quite an honor,” says Jamie Pedler, president and CFO of SLATERPAULL Architects. “We want to thank all of the employees of SLATERPAULL. It’s really their commitment and dedication to sustainability that has truly made us successful.”
In addition to the firm’s overall sustainability philosophy, SLATERPAULL has been recognized for the green renovation and adaptive re-use of former Denver fire station, Engine House No. 5, which is now home to the firm’s 40 employees. The office space was named the first LEED Platinum historic building in Colorado and exemplifies the firm’s mission of ‘Design for a Sustainable Future’. As an extension of its green business practices, SLATERPAULL hosts an annual Green Challenge, from St. Patrick’s Day to Earth Day, which encourages all employees to reduce their impact on the planet and encourages others to do the same. The firm recently celebrated 40 years in business and continues to emphasize its sustainable design efforts with minimal sustainable goals for all projects.
“We get to impact the greater community with our projects while looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment, which makes our work incredibly meaningful,” says Adele Willson, principal, SLATERPAULL Architects.
